POROS is so close to Athens that you could wake up in the morning and in just a little more than an hour be walking around Acropolis, shopping in the flea market or wandering around Plaka looking for gifts or a nice place for lunch.

How to get there:

From Athens

You need an hour journey on the Hydrofoil from Piraeus (Athens Port)
The ordinary Ferry takes 2 hours and 30 minutes with stops to Aegina island and Methana.
Boats are leaving from the Saronic islands port area.

You can also drive to Poros island through Peloponnese mainland.
You take the National Highway to Korinthos and then the road to Epidavros - Trachia - Galatas.
The journey is aprox 2,5 hours.
From Galatas you can take the small ferries to Poros - 3 minutes ride.

Connections with Other Islands

Aegina Island
Poros is connected with Aegina island by ferry and hydrofoil.
The journey with the ordinary ferry is one hour and by hydrofoil 1/2 hour.
Daily trips to Aegina are also oganized from Poros

Hydra Island
Poros is connected with Hydra island by ferry and hydrofoil.
The journey with the ordinary ferry is one hour and by hydrofoil 1/2 hour.
Daily trips to Hydra are also oganized from Poros

Spetses Island
Poros is connected with Spetses island by ferry and hydrofoil.
The journey with the ordinary ferry is 2,5 hours (with stop to Hydra) and by hydrofoil 1 hour.
You can also drive to Spetses from Poros.
You leave from Galatas (Opossite Poros - Pelopopnnese) to Ermioni - Costa.
From Costa you can take Water taxi or ferry to Spetses.

Connections with Other Areas

Poros is a great base to explore the Peloponesse mainland.

Nafplion town, the Ancient Mycenae as well as the Ancient Epidavros theatre and many other areas can be visited on a day tour from Poros.
Nafplion town is aprox 1,5 hour drive, Epidavros one hour drive and Ancient Mycenae 2 hours drive.
There are also organized tours to Epidavros - Mycenae - Nafplion.

Ermioni, a small town on Peloponnese can be visited while you are in Poros, as well as Kranidi and Porto Heli.
Porto Heli is a very nice resort (oposite Spetses on Peloponnese Mainland)

Banks:
The most popular Banks have branches on Poros Island.
The National Bank of Greece, the Commercial Bank of Greece (Emboriki) and the ALPHA BANK.
For exchange, Bureau de Change will serve you, at most of the Tourist Agencies.

The O.T.E branch of Poros Island ( National Telecommunications Co.) Open Daily ( exept weekends)

There are plenty of Telecard Phones all over the Island of Poros

Medical Services:
Health Station of Poros Island operating daily from 08:00 to 14:00
For emergencies on Poros island the Naval Base Hospital can take care of everything.
In Galatas too, the new Health Center of the area.

Chemists : On Poros Island there are e chemists shops, run by qualified chemists.

Bus Services :
On Poros island you can use the local buses to visit Askeli beach and the Monastery as well as
to Neorion Beach

Taxi Service : Taxis on Poros especially in Summertime can be found 22 hours a day.

Water Taxis & Small ferries Service:
You can pass across from Poros Island to the Peloponesse mainland using the small car ferries
from Poros to Galatas (if you have a vehicle) or the small water taxis.
