NAXOS ISLAND: Villages |
|
"AGIOS PROKOPIOS" Agios Prokopios, is 6 klms from Naxos town. It can be easily reached by bus (bus departs every 20-30 mins during the season). It is the second popular tourist area on the island after Naxos town and the 3rd best beach in the whole Greece due to its marvellously crystal clear water and the great quality of the sand, mostly composed of rice sized grains of creamy marble. The village of Agios Prokopios offers all facilities, restaurants, small bars, super market, tourist information, telephone, internet facilities etc In the biggest part of St Prokopios beach, umbrellas, sun beds and sea sports can be found |

"AGIA ANNA" Agia Anna, lies after St Prokopios beach - one can say it is its extension. It took its name from the small white chapel which is located in the top of the hill of Agia Anna. The biggest part is sandy but there are points where it's rocky, the area around the small church is rocky (nudists beach). The village of Agia Anna is smaller than Agios Prokopios but still offers good facilities to tourists, nice fish tavernas, open disco bars, coffee shops can be found also here. The small fishing port of Agia Anna is picturesque. There one sees the fishing boats sailing early in the evening and coming back the next morning full of fishes. The area behind the chapel of Agia Anna is unique for the beauty of its nature, covered from small cedar trees, that only grow in Egypt and Naxos. This small part is always Green, even in the middle of the summer |

"MIKRI VIGLA" In a distance of 19 klms from the town Mikri Vigla, a masterpiece of nature is located. It's a small cape framed by 2 beaches. The beach to its north, Panagia Parthena (Virgin Mary), is clear and ideal for Surfing and swimming. The beach to its south, Sahara, is about 4 klms long and magnetizes the fans of the sea sports due to the strong wind in July and Augst. Mikri Vigla has a few hotels, restaurants and mini markets. |

"ALYKO BAY" Glyfada Alyko is the most quiet area on the west-side part of the island. This area is a combination of wonderful sugar-white sandy beaches and the natural beauty of the mainland where cedar-trees and mastic trees grow. Few restaurants on the way and one mini market open during the season.
The area is popular to camper holidays |
